Background
I was born in South Korea on August 15th, 1991. I came to Canada with my family at the age of thirteen. My family immigrated to Toronto, Ontario where I spent my childhood. I lived in Toronto for seven years and I am now currently living in Montreal, Quebec where I am completing my undergraduate studies in McGill University.
Interests & Activities
For the past year, I have worked as a student teacher in Preschool Academy in South Korea and also in F.A.C.E Public School in Montreal. I worked with children aged from four to seven who have English as their second language in South Korea. I am very honoured to say that the four months I spent in South Korea teaching English as a second language was truly unforgettable. When I am not in school or working, I like playing and working with musical instruments. I have played the violin, flute and piano since I was four years old. My mom had a great passion for education through music which got me to become involved and love music myself. I still practice all three instruments when time allows me to. Every summer I join the city orchestra as a violinist so that I do not lose what I have learned for the past 16 years. I also enjoy spending time with my two little puppies when I go home for the summer in South Korea. Moreover, Winter, being my favourite season of the year, I try to take as much advantage of the season as possible! I absolutely love snowboarding. It is one of my favourite sports. I also love to travel. So far, I have been to Europe, China, South Korea, Japan and the States. I plan to travel as much as I can while I am still a student!
Goals & Plans
I am a teacher who listens, observes and cares to positively influence and encourage my student’s educational development. In order for a successful influence to be contributed to children’s developmental progress, teachers play vital roles as one of the dominant figures in which to fundamentally recognize, engage and care for every child in the classroom. In addition to educating and caring, teachers have the responsibility to know their children and incorporate the best and adoptive lessons to fit the needs of every child. I believe that it is the kindergarten teacher’s role to help children to recognize their inner-strengths and weaknesses early on and motivate their learning.
